Yalla Group’s Results Paint a Pretty Picture for UAE Gaming

Yalla Group’s latest financial results are another strong indication that gaming and digital gaming are becoming key components of the United Arab Emirates’ economy.

The Dubai-based company, which focuses on the Middle East and East Africa (MENA), recently announced solid performance across its gaming portfolio despite lower overall revenue.

The social networking and gaming company generated around AED 303.4 million ($82.6m) in revenue during the second quarter of 2026, taking first-half revenue to AED 593m.

Yalla reported that net income reached AED 107.6m for the quarter and AED 211.9m for the first six months of the year. Its quarterly revenue read lower than the AED 310m it recorded for the same period last year, but gaming still delivered a promising performance.

The group’s gaming services revenue rose by over 11.6 percent year-on-year over the quarter, a sign that gaming is now a major contributor in the company’s ecosystem.

Gaming Growth Outpaces the Wider Business

Yalla’s overall figures were intriguing. Quarterly revenue declined year-on-year, while net income dropped from AED 134m to AED 107.6m.

However, the gaming services sector continues to trend in the opposite direction, registering growth of 11.6%. Yalla also recorded a 35.5% net margin for Q2, continuing to show remarkable operational efficiency.

Simultaneously, average monthly active users climbed 12.3% year-on-year to 47.6m, up from 42.4m in Q2 2025. The company now has a considerable base from which to develop and monetise new gaming experiences.

They are also diversifying their portfolio. Turbo Match increased its user base in MENA, Europe and the United States.

The company said its pipeline of self-developed products is advancing across casual and hyper-casual gaming, social products and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

Yalla is employing AI-assisted programming and Yalla’s proprietary AI model for game-level generation and difficulty setting.

These developments are worth noting as developers look to create games faster while tailoring experiences for specific audiences.

Yalla Ludo is a Key Asse

One of the biggest reasons behind Yalla’s success is its ability to localise gaming for the MENA region.

Yalla Ludo, its flagship casual gaming application, combines familiar board-game mechanics and online multiplayer with voice chat and a localised Majlis-style social experience.

The company announced that the game recovered strongly from its first-quarter performance, with improved engagement and a rebound in paying-user growth in Q2.

They also held the sixth season of Yalla Ludo Carnival and launched a long-term Yalla Season campaign to bolster engagement.

That localisation tactic could be especially key as the UAE and Gulf region evolves into a renowned hub for gaming, eSports and digital entertainment.

The company also celebrated the 10th anniversary of their flagship Yalla platform during the quarter, more evidence of how deeply embedded they are in the social and gaming ecosystem in MENA.

A New Opportunity in UAE iGaming

While the company has not added iGaming to its portfolio, its expertise in mobile gaming, social interaction, localisation and MENA audiences makes the market an opportunity to consider.

The UAE’s decision to legalise commercial gaming in September 2023 was a landmark moment in a nation which had previous frowned on such practices.

The top Dubai casino site on Haztayeb had previously operated under licences issued elsewhere, but is now answerable to the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA).

The GCGRA’s remit covers internet gaming, sports wagering, lottery and land-based gaming. If Yalla decides to foray into regulated iGaming, they only need to adapt one of their existing titles.

They would still need to go through a rigorous screening process to meet the regulator’s suitability, technical, responsible-gaming, financial-crime and compliance requirements.

However, Yalla’s strengths make this a venture worth considering. They have tens of millions of monthly active users, recognition in MENA and experience in building local gaming communities.

With the right regulatory approval to enter the iGaming market and its ability to combine gaming with social interaction, Yalla may have an exciting angle worth exploring.
