For example, if you want to edit an image with Adobe Photoshop Elements, then the file must be saved as a *.PSD or *.TIFF file.
This article explores the different ways that you can save images in different formats on Mac OS X.
Converting JPEGs to TIFFs
Step 1 – Open up Adobe Photoshop Elements on your Mac OS X computer.
Step 2 – Choose “File”, then select the submenu option of “Open”. This will bring up a file browser that allows you to choose files to open. Browse for the JPEG that you wish to convert and click on it to load it into Element.

Converting JPEGs to PSDs with Adobe Photoshop CS4
Step 1 – Install Adobe Photoshop CS4 on your Mac OS X computer.
Step 2 – Download the Photoshop Format plugin, then unzip it into a folder that you can find easily. You can find this by going to “C:Program FilesAdobePhotoshop CS4Plug-Ins”.
Step 3 – Browse for the JPEG that you wish to convert and open it in Photoshop CS4.
Step 4 – Go to the top menu bar and select “Filter”, then “Pixelate” and finally “Mosaic”. This will display a submenu with different mosaic types. Choose your desired type, then press “OK”. You can now click anywhere outside of this dialogue box to close it.
Step 5 – Go to the top menu bar and select “File”, then choose either “Save As” or “Save”. You can now save your file as a PSD by choosing another location, such as the desktop.
With this method, you may not be able to preview your changes before making them because Adobe Photoshop CS4 will automatically save them as JPEGs. You can however change your file type back to a JPEG before saving if you would like.
Converting TIFFs to PSDs
Step 1 – Open up Adobe Photoshop on your Mac OS X computer.
Step 2 – Browse for the TIFF that you wish to convert and open it in Photoshop.

The main difference between this method and #2 is how you go about making your changes. With this method, you will not be able to preview the changes that you are making, but they will automatically be saved as a PNG file. You can change your file type back to a JPEG or TIFF before saving if you would like.
How to Save a Picture on Mac
1. Click the picture you want to save.
2. Click File in Menu bar and choose Save As… or press Command S on your keyboard.
3. In the pop up window, select a location where you want to save the picture and type a name for it. Click Save button when done.
Note: You can also press Command S instead of step 1.
