Applications That Are For Apple Only
Mid-August, 2010. I went to my friend’s house for dinner and to watch the latest season of Game Of Thrones (thank god for hardcoded subtitles). Just like many other dinners that I’ve had with this particular friend, we didn’t sit down until an hour into dinner because he was busy talking on his iPhone. Now, I don’t really mind this because my friend is one of the most talkative people that I’ve met – but this was different.
My friend had already eaten two plates worth of food before he even put the phone down and sat down to eat. He continued to sporadically look at his iPhone even as he stuffed his face with food and talked about his day. At one point, he got so excited that he was even checking his phone while mid-chew.

Now, to be honest, I’ve seen my friend do this before and it’s always annoyed me. But what really bothered me was the fact that he was talking on his iPhone even though we were watching a show together. When I mentioned this to him (and another friend of mine), he immediately put his phone down and apologized to us.

He eventually told us that he had to keep checking his phone because everyone was talking about the new iPad 2 in the online chatroom. Could you imagine this? Not even attending a live event but actually watching it with your friends and being more interested in what people are saying about it on the Internet. I don’t know about you, but this is one of the lamest excuses I’ve ever heard and it really angered me.
First of all, if he was truly interested in what people were discussing online, he should have put his phone down and checked out after dinner – not while we were watching a TV show together. Second of all, if he believes that people attending a live event should be more interested in what people are saying about it online then I hope he never watches the Olympics (or any sporting event for that matter) ever again.
Apple Pay
A mobile payment system that allows you to pay for goods and services with your iPhone – was recently unveiled. On stage, Apple’s senior vice president, Eddy Cue said that the company is “bringing Apple Pay to every iPhone” and “iPad”, and that it will work on “all of our products” launched in 2014 and beyond.
Apple Pay is now available for iOS 8 devices
That means the newly unveiled Apple Watch as well as iPhone 6 models and iPad Air 2 will be able to use Apple Pay. You’ll also be able to use Apple’s service with the company’s new Mac OS X Yosemite operating system, which is launching today (Oct. 16).
Digital wallet for iphone
Apple Pay works using NFC technology to wirelessly communicate with payment terminals. When you make purchases with Apple Pay, the device sends out a unique token – not your actual credit card number – to pay for goods and services.

The token will be encrypted and stored on a secure element chip on the device, and the actual payment information is processed by the merchant’s terminal. All of this means that your credit card information will be completely safe with Apple Pay as it never actually leaves your iPhone.
Conclusion
In a way, my friend is the perfect example of what some people consider to be a ‘typical’ Apple consumer. They care more about what’s going on with their devices than they do about actual live events that are taking place around them. I can’t say that this definition applies to every single Apple user out there, but it’s definitely something that many people (including myself) have noticed.
