AMD’s StoreMI hard disk tool now has support for Windows 11, providing consumers with the option to use their SSD or HDD as a cache drive. This will speed up initial loading times and improve overall game performance by using an external storage device that is not part of the system.

If your present setup includes AMD hardware, you should be aware that the company has released the latest version of its StoreMI SSD caching software.
The new version 2.1.0.205 includes support for Microsoft’s latest operating system. Although it hasn’t been confirmed, it’s possible that the next version may include certain Windows 11-specific improvements.
The operating system Windows 11 is also supported.
If you’re unfamiliar with StoreMI technology, it enables the system to use available SSDs as cache drives alongside slower rotational HDDs.
This technology is based on Enmotus’ FuzeDrive, which was originally sold separately before AMD included it as a motherboard component and renamed it StoreMI.
Like every new version, StoreMI 2.1.0.205 contains a few known bugs:
- After installing AMD StoreMI, the performance of certain M2 SATA SSD devices may degrade.
- AMD STOREMI installation fails on several platforms because:
- There is now a dual operating system (OS). In such instances, AMD StoreMI is only supported on the primary OS.
- Because the Pagefile is allocated to non-Boot Drive by default, StoreMI installation on some B550 systems may fail. If this occurs, turn on paging for the Boot Drive alone and reinstall StoreMI.
Chipset support has progressively improved since StoreMI’s first release. All AMD chipsets and CPU generations are supported in the image below (click to enlarge).
There are, however, several limitations that must be adhered to, including the following:
- At least one HDD with a capacity bigger than the SSD cache device is required. The HDD must be connected to one of the SATA ports on the AMD CPU or chipset.
- At least one unformatted, uninitialized, unallocated SATA or NVMe SSD is needed for storage acceleration. If you’re using a brand new, unused SSD, just plug it into the PC. Most new SSDs will be recognized by their default name in the AMD StoreMI Cache device menu. A discarded SSD might be used to create an AMD StoreMI cache device. Before proceeding, the user must back up any vital data and delete any existing partitions/volumes.
- The old AMD StoreMI tiering software does not need to be installed.
- The system should not have RAID storage configured.
- There are a total of 16 drives available.
